A limited-edition upcycled capsule collection celebrating biodiversity and artistic process.
Introducing our latest creative collaborator, Russell Maurice a.k.a cult graphic artist GASIUS. A pioneering figure in the UK’s underground art scene, GASIUS is known for his distinctive hand-drawn characters. Working at the intersection of graffiti and fashion, his creations draw inspiration from landscapes, insects, and the interconnected systems of the natural world.
Born from a shared muse, the PANGAIA x GASIUS upcycled capsule collection reimagines the signature 365 Midweight Hoodie and Sweatshirt. Screen-printed with GASIUS’ original artwork, each limited-edition design reflects on the idea that “everything fits together”—leaves as characters, ecosystems as collaborators, combining to form part of one intricate, co-existing system.
“It started with a leaf. A super simple signifier of nature,” Maurice shares. “Then it became about the way they connect — each part of a system, fitting together. That’s where the concept lives.”
Welcome to the latest edition of our artist series. Inspired by the power of creativity, this is where we invite collaborators to reflect, reconnect and reimagine. For this special installment we hear more from the man behind the nature-inspired graphics, GASIUS.
Tell us about the concept behind the print
With graphics I think it boils down to relevance and communication. So always [the] first stop for me is to think about what makes most sense, what am I trying to say, and what would communicate that most easily. For this project, I was thinking about nature and how it all just fits together so easily, works together and is one whole system. I had started drawing leaves as a super simple signifier or symbol of nature, and then the idea of the leaves fitting together just seemed logical. Making them characters seems super normal in my work, everything becomes a living character.
How do you connect to nature?
[I’m] lucky enough to live close to the mountain and the beach, so I’m doing both quite a lot.
What’s the most unexpected thing in nature that inspires your work?
[I] got pretty into insects over the last few years. Being massively arachnophobic that kind of surprised me, but it stemmed mostly from caterpillar and butterfly patterns.
If you could collaborate with any animal what would it be and why?
Funny question, yeah I guess a butterfly would be sick, but they already do it better than I ever could so…
Nature is…
IRL magic.
Can art help people feel more connected to the planet?
I’d love to believe yes, but I’m a massively pessimistic about humans these days.
If your art was an element which would it be?
Fifth Element for sheeeezy.
