PANGAIA x Takashi Murakami x Bee The Change

This World Bee Day, PANGAIA is launching Bee the Change fund in partnership with Milkywire. This fund aims to protect and preserve vulnerable and endangered bee species across the world.

The first collection to benefit the newly established fund will be the very special PANGAIA x Takashi Murakami collection, with prints featuring flowers and a unique bee character created specifically for the project. Flowers are pollinated by bees and are an iconic feature in Takashi Murakami’s work.

About the Bees

Human survival depends on bees. They contribute to the pollination of one third of the world’s global food supply. Without them, many of our crops could disappear, limiting food diversity and more importantly, overall supply.

About Takashi Murakami

Drawing from traditional Japanese painting, sci-fi, anime, and the global art market, Takashi Murakami creates paintings, sculptures, and films populated by repeated motifs and mutating characters of his own creation. His wide-ranging work embodies an intersection of pop culture, history, and fine art.

The Collection

The PANGAIA x Takashi Murakami capsule collection consists of two T-shirts and two Hoodies with exclusively designed artworks. The T-shirts are made from 100% GOTS certified organic cotton which is chemical-free, and therefore a completely non-irritant fabric.

Where most other brands use around 10-30% recycled cotton, we use a much higher 45% in our hoodies, mixed with 55% organic cotton. This is one of the highest grades of recycled cotton currently available on the market. We also choose organic cotton where most companies still use recycled polyester — a critical pollutant due to microplastics.
